Pastured pigs are one of our favourite profit centers. Our pigs are rotated on pasture using the same grazing principles that we use for our cattle. They are supplemented with an organic oat, peas and barley mixture, to which we add garlic. We also add apple cider vinegar to both their drinking water and their pool in order to help build their immune systems and help fight off parasites.
We buy weaner pigs off of a couple of neighbouring farms in the spring and raise them to butcher weight throughout the summer. The meat is then direct marketed into the city right to the consumer. Being pasture raised in the method that we use increases the vitamins, trace nutrients and omega 3's in the pork and makes for a high quality product, all while benefiting the land that it is raised on!
